Drumcondra pubs – a culinary find

photoBy my count, there are 7 pubs within 10 mins walk of where we live and this by no mans exhausts the Drumcondra pubs in existence. We have sampled The Brian Boru, The Gravedigger’s, and The Porterhouse. Still to go are The Millmount, Quinn’s, Kennedy’s and we tried Fagan’s tonight. On the menu was Guinness and Beef Pie, which was absolutely delicious. Probably the cooking removes all the alcohol but it was delicious none-the-less. Now all I have to do is track down Guinness ice-cream. Shouldn’t be too hard. Picture shows the interior of Fagan’s.

We cheated – went home and had some icecream from the freezer, and then a small (well, we’re not alcoholics, you know!) glass of Coole Swan – something like Baileys but much better: ingredients are Irish whiskey, Belgian white chocolate, cream, cocoa and vanilla. Mmmmmmmmm.
